The Vineyard

Terroir
Reedy Creek Estate sits at roughly 750 metres above sea level on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range. The combination of warm days, cool nights and well-drained granite-derived soils produces grapes with concentrated flavour and natural acidity — the hallmarks of quality cool-climate wine.

The Blocks
The vineyard is divided into five distinct blocks, each managed to suit its variety and aspect:

Block 1 — Old Vine Shiraz

The original 1974 plantings. Dry-grown, spur-pruned and hand-picked. These low-yielding vines produce fruit of remarkable intensity — the backbone of our Reserve Shiraz.

Block 2 — Durif & Cabernet

Planted through the 1980s on a north-facing slope. The Durif thrives in the warm afternoons while the Cabernet benefits from cold air drainage overnight.

Block 3 — Prosecco

Our newest plantings, established in 2008. The high-altitude site keeps natural acidity in the Glera grapes, giving our Prosecco its signature crispness.

Block 4 — Chardonnay & White Italia

East-facing rows that catch the morning sun and avoid the hottest part of the day. Gentle handling in the winery preserves the delicate aromatics these varieties are known for.

Sustainable Practices
We mow between rows with sheep rather than machinery, use compost from the estate's kitchen garden and have never applied systemic herbicides. Biodiversity corridors of native eucalyptus and wattle run along each boundary, supporting populations of insectivorous birds that keep pest pressure low naturally.

Water & Landscape
Reedy Creek itself meanders along the western boundary, feeding a small dam that supplies drip irrigation during dry spells. The surrounding bushland — home to wallabies, echidnas and wedge-tailed eagles — is permanently set aside under a conservation covenant.
